Hello!

Thanks for stopping by...

Welcome to my blog, I had this light bulb moment whilst laying in the bath, I wanted to create a blog that will hopefully help and maybe inspire?

I'm Charlotte, I am a mother to 2 beautiful daughters and wife to a very loving and caring husband. I am a very busy lady who likes to push the boundaries (which my husband regularly shakes his head at)!

My daughters are now 6 and 3, they are miracle babies ( I will go into that later). Alice (6) my fiery red head and Evie (3) my cuddly yet stubborn brunette.

We have been married 15 years this year and I am very proud of that. We have had hard times and struggled through but that's what makes a marriage a strong bond that nothing can break. He calls me his piece of coral, delicate and priceless.

We live in Dorset, right on the border of Somerset and Wiltshire, such a beautiful place with lots to see and do.

I am currently studying for a degree in Graphic Design, trying to build up my portfolio, which I am loving every second, its not like being in school as I really enjoy every aspect.

So that's a little about me, now why I wanted to start my blog...

I have had a few health issues in the last 10 years and I need the motivation to get healthy and well for the sake of my family.

When I was 25 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, when they told me I though oh some virus I can handle that a round of anti-biotics and I will be fit as a fiddle! WRONG! Clearly I didn't know that much about disease and illness. A room full of top consultants crowded my bed and insisted I start chemo straight away..... shell shocked I asked but what about babies, I had desperately wanted to be a mother since I could remember, we had just got to the top of the waiting list for IVF. My consultant who sat on my bed (6 months pregnant) said I didn't have any time to store eggs I was extremely poorly. I went through 9 months of chemo, lost all my hair, but in the November just after my birthday I had the news it was gone! I had kicked cancers butt well. I went on to have radiotherapy but this was just precautionary, less chance of the damn thing returning.

We were all totally shocked when I found out I was pregnant, NATURALLY. My consultant said baby would be glowing when she was born, and she did! A mass of red hair.

Then 3 years later came Evie, again we were gobsmacked, mother nature is so amazing.

At 16 stone and 5ft 3 I thought it was time I got off my butt and made an effort to loose the baby/steroid weight, I joined the gym and Weight Watchers. I started getting chest pains and breathlessness and this was only walking down the road, back to the doctors!

Then I met the great cardiac team in the same hospital, I think I have visited most wards at the Royal Bournemouth. After various tests I was told I had a blockage in my main artery which supplies the heart and I needed to have a stent fitted as soon as possible. It wasn't till after my op that he actually said it was a 98% blockage, never before had he seen this in a 34 year old. The consultant thinks this was a side affect from chemo and radiotherapy.

All has been well, as I said earlier, I started uni and even got a full time job, I finally felt that maybe luck was on my side, but then also see the positive in that I am always lucky as they catch it just in time.

Just before Christmas I started feeling unwell again so at the moment I am back under the caring cardiac team of the RBH.

I want to get healthy and as fit as I can be (in my aged body). I am going to arrange to see a nutritionist and make positive steps. This blog may help someone who may be going through the same thing or you may have a bit of advice for me? but I know that deep down this will give me the motivation I need to reach my goals.

I am looking forward to sharing my journey with you.

Charlotte x
